Making a Will
Although you might not want to think about it, making a will is one of the most important things that you can do to protect your family. Did you know that if you live in England or Wales and die without a legally valid Will, the government will decide who gets what? Making a will is imperative if you want to ensure your wishes are carried out and your loved ones inherit your estate. We offer will writing services to make it as easy as possible for you to put your plans in place.
“Having family so far away, I wanted to ensure my arrangements and wishes were in place. Mark was friendly and approachable and made the whole process very easy for me.”
What Do You Need to Put In a Will?
No two wills are the same as every person has different assets and different wishes, but there are some fundamental points to cover in your will. These include:
- If you have children, what happens to them when you die?
- Who do your assets go to?
- What happens to your pets?
- Who will be your Executors?
Putting your plans in place can seem daunting, but we will make this easy for you to give you total peace of mind.
How Much Does it Cost to Make a Will?
How much a Will costs all depends on what you actually need. You may feel your wishes are very simple. For example, you want to leave everything to your spouse/partner and then to the kids. That sounds very straightforward, but there are lots of different scenarios which can affect this, and you need to make sure your Will covers them all to protect your family.
What if, when the time comes for your Will to be read, your child is unfortunately going through a divorce, a separation or perhaps is in a debt repayment programme. Maybe their business is collapsing or they might now be on benefits. Where will their inheritance go in these situations? To a soon to be ex-spouse, to creditors or will there be a loss to benefits?
Many companies offer to do ‘simple wills’ at very little cost and often free if you buy other services. However, they do not take the above into consideration so you often end up with a Will that quite frankly is not fit for purpose.
We can offer very simple wills in situations where there are no complexities and where the events mentioned above are never going to be an issue. This service costs a fixed price of £120.
Mirror wills are virtually identical wills where one person in a couple leaves their estate to the other in the event of their passing away. We offer this service for a fixed cost of £220.
Advance Decision (Living Will)
An Advance Decision Will allows you to write down any treatments that you don’t want to have in the future, in case you later become unable to make or communicate decisions for yourself. This service costs £75.
Will with Consultation Service
Where the situation is a lot more complex and trusts are involved, we offer a consultation service to guide you through the entire process. Prices vary according to your requirements, but the price including the will is capped at £1200.
